Support for scientific publication

Support for scientific publication & targeted publishing

For efficient publication, it is recommended to publish in Scopus indexed publications. For scientific articles, we therefore recommend that you publish in Scopus indexed journals.

Here you can find the journal search section of the Scopus database, where you can check if the journal you want to publish in is listed in the database.

Free publishing and Scopus:

The institution, through its subscribed databases, is eligible for free Open Access publication of journals from certain publishers, some of which are also listed in Scopus. It is worth looking at these Open Access journal lists and selecting the appropriate journal for a given discipline, and then checking in Scopus, either by title or ISSN number, to see if it is listed.

Targeted publishing

Sustainability is an important area today. In this way, Széchenyi István University is also adapting to the new challenges. In terms of publishing, it is also useful to pay attention to the following.

Széchenyi István University participates in THE Impact Ranking. In this regard, we provide data and compete in specific categories, SDGs. (Sustainable Development Goals). For this reason, academics/researchers should include various keywords in their publications.

Targeted and considerate publishing is best achieved by the use of appropriate abstracts and keywords. So it is recommended to include one of the following keywords., in the abstract, the keywords, or the title of the article or paper.

These can also be searched for and applied in the Advanced Search section of Scopus. https://www.scopus.com/search/form.uri?display=advanced (In the UN Sustainable Development Goals section at the bottom of the page on the right-hand side search for goals 8. 10. 11.) More information on publishing:

If you meet several of the following criteria, you can submit your publication to the publisher with confidence.

  • Do you know the journal you want to publish in? Have you read any articles from it? (Are previously published articles in the journal easy to find, and can the publisher be identified and contacted?)
  • Does the journal clearly describe the proofreading procedure it follows?
  • Are the articles indexed in the DATABASES we use, e.g. Scopus?
  • Does the journal give its publication rates correctly (Article Processing Charge [APC])?
  • Are the members of the editorial board well-known researchers (recognized researchers in the field)?
  • Is the publisher a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) or the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers (STM)?
  • If your journal is open access, is it listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)?
  • Is it a member of the Open Access Publishers Association (OASPA)?
  • The journal appears in the databases of various publishers. For example, in the case of ELSEVIER, the library may request a reduced APC rate in the

PUBLICATION PROCESS

In which journal to publish in?

  • Primarily Scopus indexed journals. On the Scopus website, you can find it under Sources. Here you can even search for journals by subject. https://www.scopus.com/sources.uri?zone=TopNavBar&origin=searchbasic
  • Other useful search engines are the online, free journal search engines, where you can search for relevant (related) journals by entering the title and the abstract of a forthcoming article. These journal titles can be checked to see if they are listed in

The listed search engines will give you a hint on where to publish the article you want to write on a given topic and in some cases will also indicate the cost of publication.

ATTENTION! If a journal is included in the list of journals described in the Open Access section, this publication fee may be free of charge for Széchenyi István University.

What is Open Science and what is Open Access?

“Open Science is the practice of science in such a way that others can collaborate and contribute, where research data, lab notes and other research processes are freely available, under terms that enable reuse, redistribution and reproduction of the research and its underlying data and methods.” (source: https://openscience.hu/mi-az-open-science/)

"Open Access (OA) is free, online, digital information. Open access allows the free and legal re-use of scientific results by removing financial and legal restrictions. Open access documents can be downloaded, copied, shared, printed, with an indication of the original source. The Berlin Declaration states: “Establishing open access as a worthwhile procedure ideally requires the active commitment of each and every individual producer of scientific knowledge and holder of cultural heritage. Open access contributions include original scientific research results, raw data and metadata, source materials, digital representations of pictorial and graphical materials and scholarly multimedia material."
