1. Data about the library's activity in 2008

1.1. Value of stock increase:

In 2008 the library's stock increased by 8736 volumes and in the value of 53 248 000 Ft. The library's collection contains altogether 277 008 pieces of document, in the value of 516 021 948 Ft. 
The average price of obtained documents (over, gift, manuscript) - based on the total value - is 3.256 Ft, but if I consider only the bought documents, then the average price is 4512 Ft/document.

1.1.1. Sources of stock increase:

The university budget covers 43 861 000 Ft from the whole amount of stock increase, the remaining nearly 10 000 000 Ft is combined from the value of gift documents, manuscripts and theses.

1.1.2. The distribution of the value of the library's stock increase:

The library spent 17 161 000 Ft on books, cartography, musical, electronic documents and standards. On the subscription of journals it spent 26 700 000 Ft.

Our library spent 6 971 272 Ft on partly books, partly journals at Library Provider Organization according to the annual contract. According to our experience we can buy increasingly fewer documents from this Organization because the offered books are not always met with our collector circle.

1.2. Changes of the registered stock:

One of the most valuable collection of the library is the standard collection. We bought 305 pieces of standard in the past year, in more than one million forint value.

1.3. Databases and foreign documents:

All databases in the university's area are available for every tutors, researchers and students. According to our experiences databases became widely used by tutors, researchers. Mainly the technical, medical and law databases are the most popular.

1.4. Distribution of ordered periodicals and journals according to titles and copy numbers in 2008

80% of subscribed journals are foreign which are ordered for university departments and institutes

1.5. Library usage

1.5.1.Number of library users:

Nearly 86% of university citizens are registered in the university library. At the same time University Library works as a public library, so 20% of library usage was made by exterior readers.

1.5.2. Library usage from the view of services

The number of the lent documents shows a decreasing tendency in the past four years. In fact that in the world of Internet, users do not need printed documents, if they find them on the Internet. However information on the Internet is not always valid and valuable. According to our experience distance usage has increased, so we would like to start more new services in 2009 for instance electronic renewal, electronic advance booking, etc.

1.6. Inter-library loan:

The inter library loan was revived in the past year, and shows a rising tendency.  It is related to the rising prices of books and documents.  There are lots of library which can not afford to buy new and expensive books. The average price of a document is approximately 3256 Ft. The library rarely asks scientific books and documents for university tutors from foreign countries.
