Welcome to the Széchenyi István University's University Library and Archives website!
The history of our library began on 1 March 1974 as a separate department of the then Transportation and Telecommunication Faculty of Technical Sciences. Over the past decades we have evolved and grown into a truly 21st century library.
In addition to the classical core services of the library, our mission is to support competitive education and high-quality scientific research and innovation at the SZE, adapted to economic and societal needs:
- by creating a regional information and documentation knowledge centre;
- an experiential community space;
- providing user-friendly, value-added services;

- fostering an environmentally conscious approach;

- ensuring equal opportunities;
- recruiting the students of the future;
- working professionally, ethically, and responsibly;
- running an archive, with the aim of preserving the past of higher education in Győr and Mosonmagyaróvár.
The University Library and Archives of Széchenyi István University is committed to providing access to knowledge for both the university community and the wider public. The Central Library operates as a public library and welcomes external visitors. Members of the public can access the library spaces, consult collections on-site, use the online catalogue (OPAC), participate in guided library visits, and access a wide range of educational and research resources.
The library also provides public access to electronic resources through its institutional repository (SZERep), including open-access publications, doctoral dissertations, and educational materials. Through these services, the library supports lifelong learning, knowledge sharing, and community engagement beyond the university.
